Sandblasting & Abrasive Blasting in Lilydale

Lilydale sits about twenty minutes north-east of our Bayswater workshop, where the outer suburbs meet the Yarra Valley fringe. All blasting and coating is carried out in house at 46 Malvern Street — we do not travel to sites — so Lilydale items come to us with you or with transport we arrange at additional cost. We can garnet blast, glass bead blast, and apply specified or non-specified protective coatings at the one address.

Logistics

Getting your items to us from Lilydale

Maroondah Highway south-west through Mooroolbark and Croydon, then across to Canterbury Road, is the usual run and takes around twenty minutes outside peak. From the Lilydale side of Mount Evelyn or Coldstream you are adding a few minutes to that, but it is the same corridor.

Lilydale customers more often than most have their own means of transport — utes, trailers, tractors and trucks are ordinary equipment on the rural fringe — so towing or carting an item down themselves is usually straightforward. Where it is not, we can arrange transport. For long items like gates, fencing runs or implement frames, a trailer trip is normally simpler and cheaper than a courier booking.

Tow or cart it down the Maroondah Highway

About twenty minutes. Suits the long, awkward items common out this way — gates, fencing sections, implement frames and trailer bodies — which travel better on a trailer than in a courier van.

Transport arranged if you need it

We can organise transport both ways at additional cost. Worth considering for heavy engineering items or anything that cannot be safely tied down on a domestic trailer.

All blasting and coating is carried out in house at our Bayswater workshop. We do not offer mobile or on-site blasting, so items need to reach us one of the two ways above.

Local Customers

Who we typically help in Lilydale

Lilydale mixes suburban trades and engineering businesses with genuinely rural-fringe customers, and both send us work. From the trade and engineering side we see fabricated steel, machinery and plant components, structural sections, and repair items needing old coatings removed. From the rural-fringe side the items are different: implement and machinery frames, farm gates, feeders and troughs, tractor and equipment parts, and trailers.

Rural-fringe steel is usually in worse condition than suburban equivalents, because it has spent years outside in contact with soil, water, fertiliser and stock. Blasting is often the only sensible way to deal with it — patching over pitted, scaled steel does not last, whereas taking the surface right back means the coating starts from bare metal. We can then apply a coating system chosen for outdoor and agricultural exposure rather than a general-purpose finish.
